FromDual is the leading vendor independent and neutral MySQL database consulting company in Europe with its Head Quarter close to Zürich (Switzerland).
Our customers are mostly located in Europe spread over all branches and reach from very small companies up to some of the top-500 companies of Europe.

We are looking for a Senior Database Consultant specialised in MySQL/MariaDB (if possible also familiar with Drizzle). If you have skills in PostgreSQL or SQLite it would be a plus.

When you get this job you will travel all around Europe to different highly innovative customers helping them to solve their technical problems and make proper use of MySQL/MariaDB and related Open Source Technologies. Because of your international and multi-cultural clientel you have to be fluent in at least 2 major European languages (including English).

To apply for this job you should have a passion for Open Source Technology and adore helping customers solving their problems and make their business work again. Further a deep knowledge of MySQL and its storage engines (MyISAM/Maria, InnoDB/XtraDB, PBXT and others) is required.
You have to be familiar with MySQL Replication and all commonly used architecture set-ups in this area (like DRBD, Linux Heartbeat, LVM). If you know how to set-up and run MySQL Cluster correctly it is a plus.

Ideally you are experienced in operating critical highly available production systems. Your preferred OS is Linux (or some other UNIX) and you are comfortable with the command line, but sometimes you have also to use your Windows skills. Bash scripting is not uncommon for you and you can do some simple programs in at least one popular programming/scripting language (C, C++, Perl, PHP, Java, ...).

If you are not on-site at customers you work from your home. To get to the customers you should live within 1 hour from your next European Airport.

Because you are in direct contact with the customers you need good antennas to listen to them and the feeling how to respond and get the answers to their real questions. But you also have to take action when something goes wrong and direct the customer back to the right track.

You need good communication skill and be an active team player. If you are not busy with customers we expect you to educate yourself and try out new technology according to the companies strategy.
